1) Digital Health
Problem
Many Tanzanian facilities still rely on paper records, slowing decision-making and limiting service delivery. Existing digital platforms are often fragmented and difficult for health workers to use.
McF Approach
- Co-design simple digital tools with health workers (e.g., stock trackers, dashboards).
- Train users and managers in digital literacy and troubleshooting.
- Integrate solutions with national systems like DHIS2 to ensure sustainability.
- Support governments with planning, governance, and financing for long-term use.

2) Health Workforce
Problem
Tanzania faces severe health worker shortages—especially in rural areas. Many health workers lack opportunities for continuous training, mentorship, and career progression.
McF Approach
- Support government workforce planning to deploy staff equitably.
- Train health workers at all levels—from CHWs to specialists—through on-the-job mentorship.
- Strengthen supervision, feedback, and recognition systems to improve performance and retention.
- Advocate for sustainable financing for salaries and training through domestic and donor funds.
